Altri is a leading Portuguese eucalyptus pulp producer and one of the most efficient European producers.
Altri is a producer of eucalyptus pulp and one of the most efficient pulp producers in Europe. It is listed on Euronext Lisbon and a member of its main index (PSI20).
Altri posseses three Altri pulp mills – Celbi, Caima and Celtejo. Their combined technical production capacity exceeds 1.2 million tonnes per year.
Celbi and Celtejo produce Bleached Hardwood Kraft Pulp (BEKP) pulp, whereas Caima produces Dissolving (DWP) pulp.
Altri manages a forest area of 83.5k ha in Portugal, which are all certified by the FSC ® (Forest Stewardship Council) and PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification), the main references in forest certification worldwide. The wood self-sufficiency rate stands at 20%.
Apart from biomass, the company also has a strong focus on cogeneration. Altri operated pulp mills are entirely self-sufficient by running on power produced through the burning of black liquor, which is made from wood components unsuitable for pulp production. Through the production of black liquor, Altri generates and sells 500 GWh of electric power cogeneration per year.
Altri’s rapid growth has been fuelled by successful acquisitions (Celtejo in 2005 and Celbi in 2006), their integration and expansion. The adopted strategy is to maximize the value from our forestland, continue growing the pulp business, and adding new incremental capacity through project bottleneck elimination projects and new value accretive options.
Altri shares first listed on March 2005 in Lisbon at a price of EUR 0.15 per share.
